Crystal promises to wake you up with great alternative music every Wednesday morning at 6:00 until 8:00 am on CFCR, Saskatoon's community radio station. This blog mostly holds her playlists, some show reviews, and an occasional list!
Thanks to Everyone Who Made me Shave my Head!
Thank you to everyone who donated to FM-Phasis 2011. CFCR raised almost $63,000 over 2 weeks! We could not have done it without our generous supporters and listeners. It's been a year now since I shaved my head. Needless to say, I did not raise as much money as last year. I'm already thinking of what I will do next year to entice others to donate. If you have ideas, please post a comment! Thanks again to everyone who supports community radio!

When I posed the question on my Facebook page "What is the most brutal break-up song?" people thought that I was going through a break-up. I'm not. I have been thinking of break-up songs lately and about the people the songs are ABOUT. It is a private situation that gets made public. Luke Doucet's Broken One is one of the most brutal break-up songs in this regard. That's really how this whole thing got going. So today was all about brutal break-up songs. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the discussion on Facebook and beyond!

It's February! The month of love. The month of nauseating amounts of hearts and pink and red. I'm not so much a Valentine's day person, except I love love. I love music. I love my family. I love my friends. I love my bonus kids. I love my fitness pal. So love the love, don't love the consumerism that goes along with it.

Do you love music but don't have time to find cool bands? Do you want to know what day the latest and greatest of indie music comes out? Do you want to know what's playing in Saskatoon? Do you want to read more of my rambles? If you answered "YES!" (or even just "yes") to any of these questions, send an email to crystalintune(at)gmail(dot)com! Who I am and what the heck I'm doing on the radio!
I'm Crystal Clarke and I've been the volunteer host at CFCR 90.5FM, Saskatoon's only community radio station, for Wednesday's early edition of Green Eggs and Ham for going on 4 years. It is an imperative part of my week and I hope it is part of yours too! Sharing music has been a hobby of mine for many years and I love to go to concerts, near and far. I like to keep people informed of upcoming shows and events, and the weather. As a natural morning-person I thought that getting up at 5am would be a piece of cake, but some mornings I struggle to get there. So call me at 242-5002 to encourage me to keep the energy high as you start your day!

Crystal's Album of the Week!
AOTW
May 7ths Album of the Week is...
Sarah Slean's "The Baroness"
During her concert here in Saskatoon at the Broadway Theatre, I couldn't help but be in awe of her amazing talent. Her lyrics are so rich and stimulating and her music is so amazing... not to mention her stage presence. It's hard to know how someone so small can take up so much space (actually, being a short person myself, I think I can figure it out).
This is her 6th album release and I very much enjoy listening to this album. It requires a bit of time, patience, and attention to really understand all that she says on this album. It is well worth the work. She wrote this album while in Paris and you can really hear the French influence. As if Sarah could get any more dramatic than she already is!
