This morning I was thinking about artists whose live shows are better than their albums. This isn't a slight at any artist and their albums, but a preference of me (and maybe others?). Here is part of my life (updated as people post and as I think of more):
The Sadies - their live performance is one of the best ever, but cannot be captured on album (not even their live album)
Hawksley Workman - he is such a performer and has a very dynamic personality that would be impossible to show on an album without all the other elements
Rose Cousins - her albums often include other instruments and voices, which I feel takes away from the power and beauty of her voice
Little Miss Higgins - Her live performance marginally beats out her albums and is mostly because of her amazing ability to play guitar, her awesome outfits, her stories, and her playing slide guitar with a shot or pint glass!
The Weber Brothers+
Sunparlour Players - Nothing can compare to the amount of sweat that these guys leave on stage... two drum kits and a whole lot of heart and soul are shown in their live show. It's impossible to put that on a an album.
If you have a band to add - comment below!

+ This was the comment from a friend of mine:
"I adore the The Weber Brothers live, but don't enjoy their albums. Too much editing, too clean a
sound. I like their raunchy dirty sound, it's real, it's natural, it's
what the blues are supposed to be. If they ever do a live album that
might be something I'd be interested in, but as far as I'm concerned
their albums don't even sound like them. Live they are too fabulous to
be missed."
